Localization: Customizing Software for the World
University of Washington Professional & Continuing Education Certificate Program
The growing field of localization combines technology and business in an international setting, emphasizing the importance of cross-cultural understanding and effective communication to expand markets while recognizing that international markets are equally relevant as US markets. Localization allows companies to grow beyond national borders, thereby reducing their risk and exposure to local and national economic downturns.
The new University of Washington Certificate Program provides a three-course series focusing on concepts and tools, engineering practices, and project management. Students will gain valuable practical experience, delving into technical realms such as translation memory, terminology management, global content management systems (GCMS) and machine translation. Students will also hear from guest speakers working in the industry and be exposed to a variety of industry perspectives.
Lionbridge is proud to support this program with localization experts on the Advisory Board and in the classroom.
