Lionbridge Chief Sales Officer Paula Barbary Shannon Wins Stevie® Award in 3rd Annual Stevie Awards for Women in Business
WALTHAM, Mass., March 16 2007 - Lionbridge Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: LIOX) today announced that Paula Barbary Shannon, Senior Vice President and Chief Sales Officer, was named "Best Canadian Executive" by the prestigious Stevie Awards for Women in Business. The award recognizes Ms. Shannon's extensive contributions to Lionbridge, to her community, and to the global community at large. She is lauded for her work uniting Lionbridge's customer facing teams after the 2005 Bowne Global Solutions acquisition, stabilizing major accounts, and assisting the company in attaining its revenue goals.
The Stevie Awards for Women in Business honor women executives, entrepreneurs, and the companies they run - worldwide. The Stevie Awards have been hailed as "the business world's own Oscars" (New York Post, April 27, 2005). Nicknamed the Stevies for the Greek word "crowned," winners were announced during ceremonies at New York's Marriott Marquis Hotel. More than 180 nominated women executives and entrepreneurs from the U.S. and several other countries attended.
Ms. Shannon was recognized among more than 600 entrants. She was presented the award by Randi Kaye, an anchor and correspondent for CNN/U.S. based in New York City. Ms. Kaye covers breaking news in addition to providing in-depth reports for Anderson Cooper 360 and Paula Zahn Now. Carolyn Kepcher, formerly the Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer, and General Manager for the Trump National Golf Club, and best known for her regular appearance on the NBC television program The Apprentice, co-presented the awards with Ms. Kaye.
In accepting the Stevie, Ms. Shannon addressed the audience, "I spent much of my professional life trying to avoid being evaluated solely on the basis of gender. But this honor has allowed me to think of the remarkable women in my personal and professional life who had gone before me to ensure that my path was easy. I am delighted to accept this award on their behalf, and for the women who will follow me, and the nearly one half of the Lionbridge 4,200 strong workforce that is female."
Stevie Awards were presented in 34 categories including Best Entrepreneur, Best Executive, Lifetime Achievement, and Women Helping Women. More than 600 entries from companies of all sizes and in virtually every industry were submitted for consideration.
